Director's Message

Indian Institute of Science and Technology Education and Research

At the Indian Institute of Science and Technology Education and Research (IISTER), our priority is to build a credible, outcome-driven skill certification system that reflects real-world competency and industry expectations. The current skill ecosystem faces a clear challenge: while training is widely available, reliable and standardized assessment remains limited. IISTER is established to address this gap by ensuring that every certification issued represents verified, job-ready capability rather than theoretical qualification alone.

Our assessment and certification framework is built on internationally recognized standards, including ISO/IEC 17024:2012 and ISO 21001:2018. These frameworks ensure consistency, impartiality, and transparency across all processes. We have aligned our operations with national initiatives such as the National Skill Development Corporation and the Skill India Mission to ensure that our certification system contributes directly to India’s workforce development and employability goals.

IISTER follows a strict competency-based assessment model. Candidates are evaluated based on their ability to perform job-specific tasks under defined standards, not on theoretical knowledge alone. This approach ensures that our certifications are practical, relevant, and aligned with industry requirements. Our sectoral coverage includes both core and emerging domains, enabling us to support a wide spectrum of vocational skills across the economy.

We have also prioritized the integrity and traceability of certifications through the implementation of a secure Certificate Genuineness Verification System, supported by a digital Docs Wallet. This system enables real-time verification, secure storage, and easy access to credentials for employers and institutions. It eliminates ambiguity, reduces the risk of fraud, and strengthens trust in certified individuals.

IISTER is committed to supporting a structured and standardized skill ecosystem in alignment with the National Council for Vocational Education and Training framework. Our focus remains on strengthening independent assessment, maintaining quality benchmarks, and ensuring that certifications are credible, scalable, and industry-accepted.

We will continue to expand our capabilities, strengthen industry linkages, and enhance digital infrastructure to ensure that skill certification in India is reliable, transparent, and aligned with future workforce demands. Our objective is clear: to bridge the gap between training, assessment, and employment by ensuring that every certified individual is recognized for proven competence.
